CRIMINAL JUSTICE

ALPHA PHI SIGMA is the National Criminal Justice Honor Society. Founded at Washington State in 1942. San Diego State’s Eta Psi chapter was established in 2005. Alpha Phi Sigma recognizes academic excellence of Undergraduate and Graduate students of Criminal Justice. The goals of the organization are to honor and promote academic excellence; community service; educational leadership and unity. 

Membership eligibility includes undergraduate juniors and seniors who have a declared major or minor in criminal justice; have a minimum overall GPA of 3.2; have completed at least 12 units in criminal justice with a minimum GPA of 3.2; and rank in the top 35% of their class. Graduate students must be enrolled in a graduate criminal justice program; have completed at least 4 courses with a minimum GPA of 3.4; and must rank in the upper 25% of their class. 

Members will be invited to an induction ceremony and dinner event, and will be honored at the Department’s Criminal Justice Honors Luncheon held each Spring, Activities of the organization include on-campus speaker presentations, as well as community service events which benefit community-based criminal justice agencies and/or individuals.
