Psi Chi

PSYCHOLOGY

PSI CHI was established nationally in 1929. The local chapter was formed in 1950. The San Diego State University Chapter of Psi Chi is dedicated to promoting student awareness and interest in the field of psychology. Psi Chi provides members with scholarship opportunities and undergraduate/graduate research award competitions. 

Psi Chi’s purpose is to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship while advancing the science of psychology. To be eligible for membership one must be a psychology major or minor who has completed three semesters in college courses and nine semester units in psychology. 

Prospective members must have an overall GPA of 3.0 and a GPA of 3.0 in psychology courses. Admission periods occur in both fall and spring semesters. Psi Chi activities include fall and spring initiation ceremonies as well as joint activities with the Psychology Club, such as weekly meetings, meet-the-faculty sessions, career conferences, research conferences, and fundraising events.
